Guidelines

The Heartland Black Chamber of Commerce, Wichita announces The Heartland Wichita Black Chamber of Commerce, Wichita Scholarship Awards Program.  The awards banquet will be on May 9th 2020 at the Corporate Hills Marriott.  Under the Program, four (4) $500 scholarships will be awarded to seniors attending a high school in the city of Wichita KS.

 

Available Scholarships:

The Heartland Wichita Chamber of Commerce:  Four (4) Scholarships Totaling $2,000 are available for seniors attending any high school in Wichita, Kansas.

​

• **One (1) $500 scholarship available for a senior attending any high school in Wichita, Kansas pursuing a degree in Business.

• **One (1) $500 scholarship available for a senior attending any high school in Wichita, Kansas pursuing a degree in Science.

• **One (1) $500 scholarship available for a senior attending any high school in Wichita, Kansas pursuing a degree in Engineering.

• **One (1) $500 scholarship available for a senior attending any high school in Wichita, Kansas pursuing a degree in Liberal or Fine arts.

Program Guidelines & Priorities: 

​

* Seeking graduating seniors with a record of volunteerism in the community in non-school sponsored activities and participation in extracurricular school activities with the entrepreneurial drive to build a business after college.

​

* Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5, and plan to attend a 4-year College or 2.0 for those who plan to attend a 2 years college or technical school.

​

* Scholarship funds will be paid in September 2020 for the first semester or January 2021 for the second semester of the student’s first year directly to the college and not to the student. It will be the student’s responsibility to submit to the HWBCCW an invoice for tuition and fees, student ID number and college information.

* Applicants must have the endorsement of their Guidance Counselor on their application attesting they are a qualified fit for this scholarship program.  The Heartland Wichita Black Chamber of Commerce, Scholarship strongly suggests that each high school present this opportunity to the strongest applicants that match this program’s guidelines. Application deadline is April 8, 2020 by 4:00 p.m. to be received at the Heartland Wichita Black Chamber of Commerce Scholarship President’s office. Late applications are not accepted.

The applications will be reviewed, and recipients selected by a committee consisting of volunteers from The Heartland Wichita Black Chamber of Commerce, Wichita. The scholarships will be awarded in May 2020.
